India came forth as the rapidly emerging country of Internet exploiters. It has exceeded the rates of growth in the US, China, Japan. The country has been placed on the eighth place ahead of countries like Canada, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Russia, the Netherlands and Mexico.
The total number of people making use of Net globally arose by 10 per cent in a year. A study shows that India topped the growth charts with a 33 per cent jump.
As per the data accumulated by Internet usage tracking firm, comScore Networks India had more than 21 million web exploiters aged over 15 years at the end of January, as against below 16 million a year ago.
On the other hand, the US has retained position as the world’s largest online population with more than 153 million total Internet users. The country recorded a minor growth of just two per cent in a year.
China has emerged as the second biggest Internet population with 86.8 million users, which is being followed by Japan with 53.6 million, Germany (32 million) and the UK (30 million) in the top five.
But, the Indian growth rate was far ahead of countries having a larger online population like the US, UK, Japan, Germany, South Korea, France, Spain and the Netherlands -- registering only single-digit growth rates. |
